Having been in an HR role for 8 years, I feel that I have developed myself in such that I can handle diverse challenges that come my way. I am always up a challenge and am continuously looking for new ways to develop myself.
From 2017 I’ve been employed by various companies. Although this is seen in a negative light by most prospective employers, it is worth noting that even though the moves were not always what I wanted at the time, they have progressed my career in a way that remaining at the same company would not have. With each company I worked at, the focus was on a different aspect of HR, I got exposed to different ways of doing things, and therefore learnt and developed new skill set.
I can demonstrate this by listing the companies I’ve worked at since starting my HR career and what that did for my skills.
2011 – 2014: Incon Health
This is where I started my HR career. It was very process driven, but it honed my HR admin skills because here the previous personnel manager had kept all records by hand (including leave records). Few of my accomplishments here is introducing ESS software at this company, and being involved in the process of implementing a performance appraisal system.
2014 – 2017: Tuboseal Services
Here I brought the payroll system inhouse as it was being outsourced. I also implemented sending the workers for medicals (being a legislative requirement in the construction industry). I also helped get the company registered with the civil engineering bargaining council, which was a huge project on its own because it involved planning in implementing grading and pay scales, medical aid, pension fund, funeral policies and updating the minimum wages.
2017 March – July 2017: Verso Financial Services
Verso is a policies driven company and here the focus was on maintaining these policies. This is where I learnt protocol for running a monthly payroll because previously I was working with fortnightly wages. With Verso manufacturing a product straight from a farm, I also had exposure to the farming sector.
September 2017 – January 2018: PPExcel
PPExcel was in the manufacturing industry, operating 24/7. This role was very labour relations focussed and even had a bit of industrial relations in it, even though there were no trade unions that I was dealing with, but employee representatives.
From February 2018 until June 2018 I worked a short stint as a trade union official, during which I learnt a lot about negotiations, and for Flightscope, that had offices in America and Poland.
With all of the above companies that I’ve worked in, I can safely say that I’ve worked in the health industry, the finance industry, the engineering industry, the construction industry, the manufacturing industry, and now even the hospitality industry with my current employer owning a wine farm restaurant and guesthouse accomodation, being exposed to various seta’s, mainly HWSETA, CETA, MERSETA, INSETA, and now BANKSETA.
I’ve worked with Pastel Payroll, Paymaster, Psiber, SAGE VIP, various ESS systems, including the in house software I assisted in developing at Incon Health. I’ve been exposed to various managing directors and their leadership styles.
I strive to be an asset within any company that I find myself and feel that my positive attitude works well towards solving problems.
I have a passion for people and love helping others in making the most of their job, not only advising them on how to be fulfilled and productive as possible, but also showing them the path to be satisfied in both their workplace and in the personal endeavours. I believe in making employees self-aware of their situation and circumstances, and enabling them to help themselves instead of allowing them to depend on others.
I do not allow myself to be limited by circumstances and obstacles and I translate this loyalty and commitment to the company that may choose to employ me. I thank you for considering my application and look forward to your response.
I pride myself in my interpersonal and communication skills, and my strong work ethic.
I trust you will consider my CV.
