MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Involved in the examination, development as well as testing of mechanical equipment and pumps. Responsible for providing engineering support for workshop activities to ensure that components and equipment are maintained and refurbished correctly.

Responsibilities:

Maintains and repairs pumps, motors, and hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other apparatus and equipment.

Performs routine inspections on existing pumping equipment to ensure reliability and performance; performs the installation of equipment and components; prepares and submits completed maintenance reports as required.

Dismantles pumps and performs repairs, such as cleaning impellers, repacking stuffing boxes, tightening glands, and replacing bearings, using hand tools.

Observes operation of pumps and feels for heat and vibration of parts to detect the cause of malfunctioning.

Responsible for the plant and equipment maintenance and replacement of worn-out parts.

Examines pumps for malfunctioning and to locate damage or wear, such as blowout packing, misalignment the pump shaft, slippage of the drive belt, worn bearings, or need for lubrication.
