Tyco Electronics Canada ULC, Markham, ON May 2008 - February 2019

A technology company that designs and manufactures connectivity and sensor products for harsh environments in a variety of industries, such as automotive, industrial equipment, data communication systems, aerospace, defence, medical, oil and gas, consumer electronics and energy.

Director, Human Resources

Provided HR Leadership for up to 12 Business Units in multiple provinces across Canada supporting an employee base of approximately 400 employees. Led a team of up to 5 reports to meet daily operational needs and the achievement of project and strategic goals. Represented HR at the Senior Executive level for Canadian Operations and within the Senior HR Leadership Team. Portfolio of responsibilities included Strategy implementation, Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S), Privacy, Payroll, Employee Relations, Benefits, Compensation, Talent Acquisition and some General Management responsibilities.

Acted as a change agent to improve the public identity of the Human Resources Department with stakeholders at various levels within the Company, through ongoing communication and strategic partnerships with leadership of the Business Units, thereby elevating the profile of the HR department.

Improved Employee Relations using “open door” policy, continuous training and program development, expedient resolution on employee relations concerns, improved EH&S policies and implementation and through Employee Engagement Survey reviews.

Initiated changes to the disability plans of the company, in line with market and industry trends, resulting in an approximate savings of $115,000 + annually while augmenting process efficiency and improving service levels.

Successfully led the company through Health and Safety Audits in 2011, 2014 and 2017. Reduced the total Audit Findings from 49 to 12 in the subsequent external audit and resolved all recommendations in 3 months.

Developed an ‘Onboarding Orientation Program’ (previously no program existed) to enhance the new hire experience.

Executed all Corporate Strategy initiatives impacting the Canadian Legal Entity such as Mergers, Divestitures and Acquisitions, implementation of new Corporate Policy, Legal Entity and Corporate name changes, liaison with government authorities, internal and external audits.

Corporate Human Resources Manager
