A quick explanation for a recent employment gap: I relocated from PA->FL in October 2018 spending the next four months getting myself and my father (who moved from NJ->FL) situated in our new residences. I then enjoyed the next few months learning and enjoying the area, getting integrated into my community, and making new friends. It was all by design, after all, at heart, I am a Project Manager! My recent job search began in April, which brings us to now.
A Project Management Institute member with Project Management Professional certification. I also hold a Master Certificate for Applied Project Management from Villanova, for whom I taught the Mastering Project Management course, after being invited to join their professional staff as an instructor while a student in the same course. This offer was based on my knowledge of project management material, my skills as a leader, and my ability to effectively synthesize and clarify information for program participants (ever read the PMBOK?). I also am proud to hold Six Sigma Green Belt and Program Manager Certifications.
Teams I have led benefited from my mentoring and instilling into them (especially into junior project managers) that the methodology isn’t as important as delivering products that get it right in production the first time,
Successful roles include me as the PMO Lead, Program/Project Manager, Office 365 and SharePoint trainer/administrator, and Technology Concierge, driven to take care of you in the best way I can. What is your request? The team and I will use that information to figure out what you truly need and make it happen in order to satisfy tactical and strategic goals. That’s on top of the usual and customary expectations of the PMO and this approach rapidly earns me a reputation as the one you’ll come to when it’s mission critical.
Regarding the specifics in the post, I have:
* Successfully performed the requisite activities one would expect from a project/program manager and PMO Lead
* Exercised tight change and release management controls
* Excellent stakeholder management skills
* Been the SharePoint front-end Admin; also Yammer, and segments of Windows, AD, etc
* The ability to synthesize and clarify complex material (as stated above - a standout skill in my career).
I’ve also been the Portfolio Manager, as well as the Release Manager. My successes include establishing new PMOs, championing governance with the SDLC, building custom Excel and SharePoint tools (financial and status reporting sites). I’ve also been the front-end SharePoint Administrator (also managing the back-end resources), SME, and trainer, and was an Office 365 and Yammer Administrator. And much of it was as a remote worker.
The primary focus of my last assignments saw me migrating teams to Office365, standing-up SharePoint sites with custom solutions, training users, providing support. The assignment before that saw me training and supporting the client’s national work- and salesforce in Office 365 on Windows-, Mac-, and IOS-based platforms, followed by advanced training (especially for OneDrive and OneNote) and creating troubleshooting guides for the same. I also provided SharePoint training, customization, and support. They were so impressed with my performance and positive feedback that my 6-week contract ended after its 9th month, as they kept providing more for me to do.
My being the champion of the voice of the customer throughout the process has guaranteed confidence and inclusion from the stakeholders as we refined and honed the requirements; it’s an environment that delivers world-class solutions. I’ve a track-record in building or mending bridges, and even replacing bridges that had been eradicated by someone else’s firestorm, I’m also adept at clearing mines from the roads leading up to a bridge (I also love metaphors).
The scale of programs/projects cover the gamut, including time (1-12+ months), resources (1-100+), software and components (apps, switches to plantations), and cost (millions), with the largest ones being executed for datacenters. The team/SMEs and I identify, own, and mitigate all risks. And my teams have been local or spread all over the globe.
My career reflects that I contribute to an atmosphere of excellence, professionalism, team building, and an effective use of IT tools leading to productive solutions in the many successful positions and assignments. My resume summarizes my extensive experience and my ability to facilitate strategic initiatives and I welcome the opportunity to discuss how it has benefited organizational processes and needs.
Thank you for your consideration,
Michael Brick Sturner, PMP
