07/2001 - 01/2007 Towson Ford Sales Inc 926 York Rd, Towson, MD The Switch Board or Telephone Operator is the first impression a customer hears when they call a company. If they get a bad impression of the company, they have a problem with the company right a way. If they get a good impression of the company, it makes the caller a little nicer to the person they end up speaking to. It was my job to answer the calls in a timely and courteous manner. I greeted the customers that came into the show room and got them the help they they needed. The new sales asscoiates usually had their desks near mine. I helped more than one of them sell their first car. I stocked in both new and used cars when they arrived at the show room. I answered the phones for the whole company. I received a lot of calls for the service department. I would receive many Irate service customers calls, either because their call wasn't answered, went in to voivemail, or they got hung up on. I was able to calm them down and get them the help they needed. Sometimes the former irate callers would come to see me in the show room to thank me for the help that I gave them. I received and distributed the company mail. I filed and kept a log of the Service, Parts, and Body Shop Tickets. I also receipted the money for each department which aided our accounts receable department. I also performed other duties when needed. I also received payments for the cars and kept a log of them. I did other duties as needed. Virginia Bailey

Switchboard Operator

03/1990 - 06/2001 Procter & Gamble Co 11050 York Rd, Hunt Valley, MD As with any company, the Switch Board or Telephone Operator is the first person a caller speaks to when they call a company. The person answering the phone gives the caller a good or a bad first impression of the company. It was my job to make sure that their first impression of P&G was a good one. Other employees, gave me the title as the voice of P&G. When I first started at P&G I was a temp only there for a day. It wasn't long before I was asked to come in the next day. This happened for around three months. I was soon asked to be considered for a permanent position. I answered and sent to the appropriate party a high volume of phone calls in a proficient and courteous manner. I kept a count of all of the calls I answered. The average number of calls was 1200 a day with very few hang ups. My supervisors were very surprised at this. While answering high volume of calls, I revamped and maintained the company directory. After they were printed,I mailed out the directories to the employees. Unfortunately, when a friend of mine was killed on company property by her boyfriend I had over 2200 calls which I had to screen very quickly and carefully. I was dealing with many calls from the press which had to get sent to security and public relations. My bosses were impressed with me that day, I told them that I was only doing my job. While answering the phone I sent out company mailings, filed sales and merchandiser applications, and did other administrative duties as needed. I was their operator for 12 years. I would still be there today, but my job is now an automated system. While there, my position kept moving to many departments from HR to Facilities. No matter what department I worked for, I did any job that was asked of me. Education and Training
