FINAL YEAR PROJECT

Study on the solid waste management in Mangalore city and design of biogas plant

Study on the current issues on the solid waste in Mangalore city and to propose a profitable biogas plant. The waste which was produced was found to be 40% of food waste and made a design of the biogas plant according to the food waste produced daily. Design is all based on the literature survey and journals. The total solid contents is 8% and retention time would be 40 days as per the Mangalore city weather conditions .Thus the biogas obtained had a high profitable value for the both consumers and the government. The biogas can be used for all the purpose which the LPG is used. The LPG which is received in the each house would cost till Rs 705/- per month and biogas gas produced would cost till Rs150/- per month. Thus LPG can be replaced by the biogas and is a profitable gas.

Occupational safety and health Administration (OSHA)

OSHA’s mission is to ensure that employees work in a safe and healthful environment by setting and enforcing standards, and by training, outreach, education and assistance. Studied on the current standards maintained by the Marian projects pvt ltd. Made a survey on the safety factors in the field construction and study on the OSHA Act.

Use of thermosetting plastic in rigid pavements

The thermoset plastic shows a high durability in strength and can be used in the construction applications. The plastic used is polyethylene plastic were it is heated in the mixer of bitumen and it is casted upon the concrete mould and productivity was found to be good compared to the normal concrete mould and had a high compressive strength. It also increases the durability of the mould. This innovative technology will be a boon for the Indian hot humid climate. It is economical and eco friendly.
