Wound Care Concepts / dba Gentell - Production Manager 2007 to present
A Manufacturer of Wound and Skin Care Products.
Led major improvements in production, quality, efficiency and overall order fulfillment.
Oversaw the company’s acquisition of a competitor’s Skin Care Products line. Managed the entire transition, learning the original setup and equipment, then planning and working with riggers, plumbers and electricians to design and layout the entire production floor at the current facility.
Absorbed the new products utilizing reformulations and the consolidation of all packaging components for lowered costs and improved efficiency.
Improved shipping ability by working with several trucking lines and logistics companies for the best combination of cost and timely deliveries.
This lead to a quadrupling of revenue.
Formulated and introduced four new products: Body Lotion, Mango Instant Hand Sanitizer, Anti-bacterial Hand Soap and SuperMax Moisture Barrier Cream. Worked with the marketing team to design the packaging materials and write the sales literature.
Reformulated the company’s Body Wash. This produced a fifty percent decrease in cost, a twenty percent increase in sales, improved aesthetic appearance and greater customer satisfaction.
Brought the company’s sub-contracted tube packaging and infused gauze production in-house. This resulted in huge cost savings, enhanced flexibility for the production and packaging departments and better products.
Contract Callers, Inc. Quality Assurance & Safety Manager 2001 to 2005
A Provider of Field Services to the Utility Industry.
Introduced Quality Assurance model to Field Services.
Performance Analysis, Statistical Tracking and Modeling, Corrective and Preventative Actions, Root Cause Analysis, Auditing and Documentation.
Quality and Safety Training and Driving Instruction.
Revised and improved the Company’s Quality System and Safety Program Manuals to insure compliance with the utility industry’s standards.
Instituted statistical tracking programs that facilitated monitoring the performance of the field staff by area and activity.
Revealed patterns in ratepayer’s accounts that allowed more accurate adjustments of work volumes for field technicians.
Oversaw the training of new field staff and conducted driver safety training according to the Smith System Driver Training Program.
The Dial Corporation Senior Quality Control Lab Technician 1977 to 2000.
The Bristol facility produced 4 to 8 million cases of consumer laundry products per year.
Technical Support to Processing, Packaging and various Research Projects.
Incoming Inspection, Formulation, Process Oversight, Sampling, Analysis, Packaging Reliability and Warehousing of Finished Goods. Direct Measurement, Observation, Titration Analysis, Spectrophotometery, and various means of testing.
Utility Project Improvement Manager. Empowered to access extensive resources. Oversaw or conducted numerous process control experiments introducing new ingredients, new products and new processes. These included re-formulations, ingredient changes or substitutions, application upgrades and changes and alterations in the packaging process. Discovered demonstrated and documented several optimal methodologies.
An expensive raw material was, inexplicably, being consumed as double the rate expected. Working with the processing operator to vary the mixing order revealed the material was causing the weigh scale to malfunction. This resulted in the elimination of a monthly $30,000 cost overrun, eased processing and a much improved product.
Used Spectra-analysis to detect minute amounts of an expensive ingredient in pre-blended material. This allowed formulation adjustments that produced and on-going savings of $100,000 per year.
Determined that a new ingredient would rarely mix and distribute properly and that the resulting problems were resulting in several hours downtime per week. Collected and analyzed more than 2200 data points over a six month period and clearly demonstrated the poor reliability of new, costly and undependable machinery. Conceived a cheaper alternative delivery method that worked effectively, efficiently and eliminated the related downtime. The total savings of this project was well over one million dollars.
Encouraged and modeled a “technical support” attitude for QC functions. This greatly increased and enhanced interdepartmental communication and cooperation. It also fostered a more productive and quality conscious atmosphere.
Taught packaging line weight control operators the concepts of product density and the relationship to weights and fill volumes. This showed them how to reduce the variations within their control limits. It resulted in tremendous budgetary savings and all packaging department employees won monetary performance awards.
