RESEARCH ASSOCIATE for ALGENOL INC:Novemeber 2011 – July 2013, SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE for ALGENOL INC.:July 2013 - July 2016, SCIENTIST for ALGENOL INC.: July 2016 - July 2019.
My primary responsible are for the design, construction, managing, operating, sampling, and analyzing of mid- to large- scale algae cultivation systems. Secondary responsibility include generation/maintaining of Matlab GUI's for company use, and developing new operating protocols to reduce cost and increase efficiency of analysis and procedures. I work outside maintaining and operating the cultivation systems, constructing new designs/concepts, in the laboratory processing and analyzing samples, in the meeting room developing new designs, troubleshooting and preforming root cause analysis on current systems, and at my desk developing new operating procedures or Matlab code for company usage. REASEARCH ASSOCIATE for CELLANA INC.:September 2008 – October 2011 and LABORATORY SAFETY OFFICER:July 2009 – October 2011
My responsibilities as a research associate include developing standard operating procedures for various instruments and methods, planning and running experiments, and writing tech reports on the analysis. I have worked with instruments ranging from simple spectrophotometric and fluorometers to more complex gas chromatagrams and nutrient analyzers. As a equipment lead/co-lead it has my responsibility to not only run and maintain the instruments, but to introduce and preform quality control tests, involving ruining and tracking of samples thought the use of SQC charts with ISO 17025 compliance. I have been involved with building, sampling, maintaining, and harvesting cultures from the small scale of one liter flasks to 25,000 liter photobioreactors and 120,000 liter raceway ponds. As a safety officer I am in charge of hazardous waste management, incident investigation, and introducing/implementing safety procedures. LABORATORY TECHNICIAN for the MARINE MICROECOLOGY and BIOGEOCHEMSISTRY LAB at the MOUNT ALLISON UNIVERISTY OF SACKVILLE NEW BRUNSWICK:August 2007 – July 2008 I was in charge of all the laboratory needs, making sure it our stocks of chemicals and culture wares were full and clean. I had to prepare media for cultures and keep our stock cultures alive and growing, as well as prepare slides and analyze the cultures and process fossil sediments. My main job was the calibration of a new piece of equipment, the Flow Cam, for use with sediment fossils. YMCA Fox Cities All Stars Cheer Coach
September 2006 – August 2007
Three days a week I coach an All Star Cheer team at the YMCA. During the practices I am in charge of the team, keep them on task learning a routine and teaching them proper form for jumps, motions, and stunts. University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Bookstore
