Undertake and participate in the development of all duties and functions pertinent to the areas of professional competence of a Consultant in EM as set out in the Clinical Directorate Service Plan and in line with policies as specified by the Hospital.
• Clinical management and direction of the Emergency Department (ED), in conjunction with other Consultant in EM colleagues.
• Responsible for the assessment and immediate care of all EM patients attending the ED and linked Emergency Care Network (ECN) units. This may be delivered personally or by supervision of other clinical staff.
• Responsible for the care of patients admitted under the care of the Consultants in EM to the ED Clinical Decision Unit / Emergency Medicine (EM) Observation ward or Chest Pain Assessment Unit.
