Mr. Eslin was involved in day-to-day operations and maintenance as a shift operator and controls tech. Repaired and calibrated control valves & remote operated equipment (SCADA). He assisted with inspection and repair of wicket gates, radial gates and various wheelhouse equipment. He designed, fabricated, and installed coffer damns. He conducted major concrete removal and restoration operations. Plants operated and maintained 18 turbines in 5 facilities over a region covering 1600 square miles and Mr. Eslin often worked unsupervised.

1992 - 1996 Gas Turbine Systems Technician U.S. Navy

USS Cape St. George CG-71

Mr. Eslin commissioned USS Cape St. George CG-71 and was an active member of the commissioning crew at Ingalls Shipyard, Pascagoula, MS. He assisted with the installation and commissioning gas turbines, waste heat boiler, lube oil conditioning, and fuel handling equipment. He co-authored ships operating manual for the propulsion lab. Procedures covered fuel loading, transferring, purification, testing, & spill abatement.

He worked in propulsion fuel lab maintaining ships fuel inventory, boiler chemistry, and oil QAQC program.

As Propulsion Control Board Operator, he was responsible for all engineering plant operations at sea and in port.

As Aft Engine Room Supervisor, he was responsible for scheduling and supervising ops for aft engine room. He supervised a 14-man operations & maintenance team.

Special Operations

Trained and Operated as Boarding Party Engineer – responsible for search and seizer, acted as operating engineer for seized vessels. Conducted Counter Drug Ops, Weapons Embargo Enforcement and Anti-Piracy Operations.
