Ph.D. Research Assistant

Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Jeffrey A. Davis

Project: “Understanding the potentiality of sugarcane aphid, Melanaphis sacchari (Zehntner), to alter Sorghum mosaic virus-pathosystem in grain sorghum”

Determined the efficiency of sugarcane aphid to transmit Sorghum mosaic virus from sorghum to sorghum

Explored the feeding behavior of M. sacchari and Myzus persicae using Electrical Penetration Graph (EPG) technique to understand the efficiency of virus transmission

Established the effects of Sorghum mosaic virus on sugarcane aphid preference and feeding behavior

Project: “Understanding the impacts of plant viruses on non-vector herbivores”

Evaluated the effects of Cucumber mosaic virus and Sunn-hemp mosaic virus on feeding, growth and oviposition preference of two non-vector herbivores, soybean looper (Chysodeixis includens Walker) and fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda JE Smith)

Studied the effects of Bell pepper endornavirus (BPEV) on M. persicae host selection and population dynamics

Dept. of Plant, Soil and Entomological Sciences, University of Idaho

M. S. Research Assistant

Project: “Deriving economic models for pea aphids, Acyrthosiphon pisum (Harris), as a direct pest and a virus vector in commercial lentils”

Supervisor: Prof. Sanford D. Eigenbrode

Established economic injury levels (EILs) for pea aphids in lentils as a direct pest

Developed economic guidelines for treating pea aphids vectoring Pea enation mosaic virus and Bean leafroll virus based on impacts on yield of virus inoculation at different stages of crop

Division of Entomology, Nepal Agriculture Research Council (NARC)

Research Assistant (2010)
