•As Manager of Project Managers, I implemented Agile-based organizational policies and procedures that led to increased efficiencies, timely status reporting (late reports declined by 35%), and increased project completion rates (project completion rates increased by 38%).

•Led the team to implement and use Agile methodology in concert with overall corporate Agile strategy. Scrum master.

•Identified gaps in M&A processes. Remediation of these gaps required coordination of multiple organizations across United Health. The solutions implemented reduced migration times by 4 months on average while also reducing costs by 25% for a typical migration project. The process flows developed also triggered a reorganization that resulted in further efficiencies gained.

•Led multiple Agile-based software development projects. Led daily sprint reviews and scrum meetings verifying that all team members were performing as required to maintain the project schedule. Successfully kept distractions from impacting the team’s productivity.

•Part of a team that designed and implemented the entire Agile / Scrum methodology for the migration from HP Service Manager to ServiceNow. The project implemented ServiceNow on time. Ongoing development and customization of ServiceNow continued using the same methodology.

•Developed a series of educational opportunities for acquired employees to understand and be able to function in the United Health Corporation. Prior to this effort, there was no centralized education available. The implementation of this project resulted in reduction in help desk calls of 50% during the first weeks of a migration project. The ongoing results were slightly higher.

•Led the effort to develop and implement a long-range strategic plan for the organization. The plan was developed with the help of both internal and external customers and was implemented with highly admired results. We were solicited to help develop for additional organizations.

•Led and contributed to the development of SOW’s, charter statements, scope statements, RACI charts, WBS and business direction statements working with business stakeholders. Worked in a collaborative way with business and technology members to solicit requirements and develop solutions.

Director, Development and Technology

WebMD, 2000 – 2002

•Reduced call center support times by 15%. Improved overall functionality of call center technologies and support methods.

•Multiple platform management including UNIX, IBM and Windows servers.

•Created the PMO for the division. PMO organized and formalized the project methodologies used across the division. Office included forecasting and capacity management.

•Researched, developed and executed a strategic plan to double the medical insurance claim volume of our division through the use of exciting UNIX and web-based technology that allowed our future customers to track claims many times more efficiently than their current vendor. The plan was a complete success resulting in increased customer claim volume by 30%.

•Part of the team that set direction for the WebMD family of web sites. The team was responsible for business requirements and technology decisions along with some content considerations. Managed multiple data center projects.

•Developed and executed a plan to bridge two previously diverse divisions. The plan was very successful and resulted in 20% efficiency increase and 25% reduction in software development time and 5% increase in data center uptime metrics.

•Implemented an Agile software development methodology for a team of 50+ developers that resulted in 10% defect reduction, better editing capabilities and 12% increase for on-time error-free code release.

Dean’s Advisory Council

•One of the founding members of the council. Previously the University did not have a bridge that linked industry needs with the educational curriculum. The council provides direction for the college regarding the relevance of curriculum and research at the university.
