Harlem Hospital OB/GYN Clinic (New York, United States)

MSW Intern (September 2018- current)

-Working specifically in the outpatient OB-GYN Clinic where clients range from pregnant teens and pregnant women who are facing homelessness, single motherhood or who are recent immigrants.

-Assessing and planning therapeutic interventions related to patient needs and behaviors.

-Documenting biopsychosocial assessment and therapeutic interventions and recommendations in clinical record as appropriate.

-Providing supportive short-term or long-term counseling to teenage and adult women at Ob/Gyn clinic and adults at Primary medicine clinic in areas of domestic violence, shelter placement, depression, home environment.

-Making appropriate referrals for community services such as referrals for homecare, shelter, food assistance etc.

-Using Harlem Hospital interpretation phone services, Cyracom, to interview clients who fully speak a language other than English.

-Assessing the patient’s individual home care needs, completing forms such as M11Q’s and communicates with MLTC care managers.

-Advocating for individuals and families.

-Facilitating individual and group counseling in the middle and high school sector.

-Providing counseling sessions for students who have Individualized Education Plan (IEP)

-Facilitating anger management support group.

-Providing counseling for adolescents who have Oppositional Defiant Disorder.

-Offering crisis intervention, conflict resolution and counseling to students to help each individual child or adolescent gain the social understanding needed to interact in the school environment.

-Coordinating resources for students and parents.
