My assignment consisted of reviewing credit exposure types (individual or group) when the normal operating practices could not define the exposure type correctly. The primary operating group responsible for maintaining the corporate wide data base of all Basel exposures is housed in the Philippines with support functions in both Europe and USA.

I solved the reporting issues for a number of large exposure types including; sovereign wealth funds, municipal bonds and trust funds for Mexican political subdivisions, large financial institutions in China, Taiwan, India, and Viet Nam.

During this assignment I developed a training program for the Basel unit in the Philippines to improve their research skills.

Consultant Accounting Procedures

Lead a diverse team in Pittsburgh, PA (Finance) and Florence, SC (Operations) in resolving large /complex reconciliation problems resulting from a function transfer from SC to PA over a year ago. The accounting function was transferred without a good knowledge transfer. Six accounts had cumulative differences over a 1+ year period of more than $2million. Resolved the differences and initiated new procedures to eliminate them in future periods.

Recommended changes to closing policies and procedures regarding testing and workpaper functions for backup withholding and deposit-secured Treasury borrowing.
