Responsible for performing and observing laboratory tests on patient specimens and correctly recording all results. Uses and maintains all laboratory equipment correctly. Perform all testing following all policies and procedures approved by the Laboratory Medical Director, including all safety regulations.

Responsible for maintaining and using various equipment in the Clinical Laboratory; safely and correctly. Responsible for accurately timely performing patient testing and reporting of results as qualified by education and experience in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Blood Banking, Urinalysis, Serology, and Microbiology.

Performs quality control procedures per policy and maintains records on these checks in all departments. Responsible for instrument maintenance including documentation of performance in all departments. Responsible for troubleshooting all equipment or processes and documentation of all troubleshooting events. Responsible for participating in the laboratory Quality Management Program.

Responsible for documenting correct information for billing purposes. Receives and logs patient specimens: urine, blood, spinal fluid, body fluid, etc. Responsible for preparing all specimens for testing in the lab and in a reference lab, including centrifugation, preservation/fixing and storage. Responsible for appropriate handling of all reagent systems including all safety precautions in all departments. Follows standard precautions at all times.
