As the first ever HR Director, I entered a company undergoing rapid expansion with no established HR practices and which lacked organizational effectiveness. I implemented HR standards and ensured compliance with all local, state, federal and regulating agency laws. I authored the organization's first-ever employee handbook, company policies, and procedures, all job descriptions and introduced a performance management system that empowered employees with ownership of their productivity.

I renegotiated a robust, yet cost-effective, employee benefits package for an overall final savings of 15%.

I performed job analysis, evaluation, market research, and examination of salary rates with respect to compensation levels for the organization and provided recommendations for job pricing and compensation offers. Performed the FLSA job classifications test upon all new hires and quarterly audits to ensure strict adherence to the Equal Pay Act.

Human Resources Director (June 2008 – January 2019)

Established this rapidly growing company’s first ever Human Resources Department supporting over 150 employees.

I solely authored and implemented a comprehensive Employee Handbook, outlining corporate policies and procedures, and brought the organization up to HR Standards, strictly adhering to local, state, and federal employment laws. I created a successful recruiting/onboarding program and new employee orientation. I audited monthly benefits invoicing for accuracy and payment approval, as well as bi-weekly payroll reports to ensure accuracy in benefits deductions, wages, paid time off usage, balances, and accruals prior to finalization. Captured $117k in incorrectly billed benefits premiums and avoided $800k in retirement plan funding. Slashed payroll/benefits administration costs 30% by negotiating pricing and fees while ensuring the continuation and enhancements of services.

I stepped into this organization which was experiencing high levels of cyclical turnover requiring a strategist with hands-on direction.

Through ongoing management consultation, I steered the organization toward new approaches, policies, and procedures. I evaluated and facilitated a robust employee retention program, proactively ensured employee engagement and relations, ongoing professional development, and satisfaction to prevent turnover. Using different wage comparison tools such as the Bureau of labor statistics, salary.com, payscale.com, and our top three competitors gave us the edge on competitive pay and benefits.

Human Resources Manager (October 2003 – July 2007)

Promoted from Human Resources Assistant to Manager.

I resuscitated a struggling organization by reducing overstaffed workforce by 25% addressing and resolving compliance issues and facilitating extensive training programs. I managed all human resource functions including policy development, personnel record management, recruitment, screening, onboarding, new hire orientation and benefits, and payroll administration. I designed, developed, provide direction, and administration of compensation and benefit plans. I processed all new hire, benefits enrollments, leave of absences, terminations and payroll documents ensuring 100% strict compliance with all local, state, federal and regulatory agency laws.

I rectified an arbitrary payroll process by instituting systems that eradicated prior history of errors and lengthy turnaround time. I subsequently spearheaded a complex system integration merging 200+ payroll records from Paychex to ADP PC Payroll.

Successfully mentored employees for promotion, improved overall internal communications, and designed company’s 1st HRMS.

I contributed to all areas of human resources including training, employee relations, benefits administration, performance improvement program and performance appraisals. My primary function was compensation and benefits analysis. I managed the HRMS database, created and executed managerial reports, electronic personnel changes, as well as kept track of employee stock option grants that included option type, number of options, vesting schedules and vesting start dates. I was positioned as the point of contact for managers and employees regarding interpretation of benefits, departmental and corporate policies, as well as addressing job-related issues.
