Project: E-Notice

Role: Programmer Analyst

Description: Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission (WCC) sends out some documents through emails to the subscribed users of WFMS (Web-based File Management system) project. Users view those documents by clicking a link in the email which redirects to an eNotice service webpage. Current system creates numerous emails to each user if there are multiple outgoing documents generated to them in a day. This is cumbersome to maintain and causing extra handling for the clients for each email.

This project replaces existing emails (one per eNotice) with a single “digest” email listing the claim numbers for all new notices and a link to access the eNotice service webpage. Modified the interface of the eNotice interface to allow users to view all those documents in a single page and also to allow WFMS Administrators to select a user and view their current eNotice interface.

Also modified a windows application (MergeDoc) to deliver the documents that are generated by this application via E-Notice to reduce the amount of paper and mailing cost.

Role & Responsibilities:

Analysis of existing system.

Involved in the design of .NET based new system.

Module implementation including creating a Web application using ASP.NET, JQuery, modifying a VB.NET application.

Created Tables, Views, and Stored procedures in SQL server 2008 R2.

Project: IWIF/EDI

Role: Programmer Analyst

Description: Maryland Injured Workers’ Insurance Fund (IWIF) and the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission (WCC) exchange data for the First Report of Injury (FROI). Currently, WCC is receiving these forms in large batches of paper forms either though postal mail and by courier. This project replaces the existing manual process by initiating the EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) between the two Maryland State agencies.

WCC and IWIF will use PSFTP over SSH for file transfer. WCC initiates transactions once per day at a scheduled time convenient to IWIF. Once a file is processed, an acknowledgment record will be sent back to IWIF. Also, any error records will also be sent. After receiving the file from IWIF, WCC parses the data and stores information to a database for later use by other applications.

FROIImport module is a .NET library, which retrieves EDI information from the IWIF database, populates the FROI form and creates an optical image in TIFF format. This image file is created as a FileNet Document with the TIFF image files and commits them to the FileNet server.

Role & Responsibilities:

Analysis of existing system of manual processing.

Involved in the design of .NET based new system

Module implementation including writing a class library, scheduling the task to run on the deployed server.

Data transformations (ETL processing) using SSIS

Exception handling and also logging using Log4Net.

Documented various parts of the code using GhostDoc.

Wrote a detailed document on the application functionality.

Created installer to deploy the application.

Environment: Windows XP, C#, SQL Server 2005, SSIS, FileNet IDM, Log4Net, GhostDoc.

Project: MergeDoc

Role: Programmer Analyst

Description: The MergeDoc application is windows-based client/server application developed to assist the commissioners' assistants, Vocational Rehabilitation staff, and other staff members at the Commission with the creation of award orders while processing claims. This application creates the award orders by retrieving claim information from the AS/400 and filling fields on a user-selected template with this claim information. The user can then complete the order by filling in the remaining fields in the template and modifying the template text as needed. When completed, the document is merged and a copy of the document will be printed for each party in the claim. Then this document will be routed to one or more divisions. Once this document is routed it is committed to optical storage on a FileNet Server. When committing documents, MergeDoc extracts statistical information about awards and saves that information to a statistics database on the AS/400.

Role & Responsibilities:

Implemented various features of the application such as parts of GUI, merging, committing to FileNet and writing statistics to AS/400.

Created custom wrapper classes for TxTextControl.

Supported exception handling and also logging using Log4Net.

Unit testing using NUnit Tool

Documented various parts of the code using GhostDoc.

Environment: Windows XP, VB.NET, C#, TXTextControl, FileNet IDM, AS/400, NUnit, NHibernate, Log4Net and Ghost Doc.
