CISCO SYSTEMS (1999 – 2018)

Managed products/projects via a number of different roles which were all focused on managing the Product/Software/System Development Life Cycles. Product Management focused on a product whereas Solution Management focused on multiple products which were integrated together to solve larger customer problems. Sometimes as many as 10 to 20 products could comprise a solution. The products belonged to multiple lines of business across all of Cisco. Product Management was also the term to use to manage services like Remote Managed Services and Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC). Note that Solution Management tends to be a hybrid approach which combined product and project management and skills. More detail below.

Program Manager, 2016 – 2018

Assigned new PMO office role to develop and implement strategy for centralizing program management in the Pricing and Licensing group with a focus on providing pricing and offers for subscription based annuities.

• Managed team of 3 program managers to produce a process flow and methodology for the creation of offers. Efforts reduced delivery of offers by 2-4 weeks, and increased number of offers delivered from 5 to 15 per quarter. Team monitored 50 projects and actively managed 10 different projects

• Created a flexible deployment offer providing cloud, on-premises, and hosted collaboration in a user-based subscription. Collaborated with offer managers, pricing managers and operations team to create a pricing and licensing model that supported this completely new business model.

− Efforts generated the fastest growing product offers in the history of Cisco. Bookings grew from $25M in Q1 to $383M in Q4 in FY 2018.

• Collaboration offer leveraged Cisco WebEx teams for video, voice and messaging web content management across multiple devices (pcs, smart phones tablets,

Product Manager – Collaboration, 2015 – 2016

Built, promoted, and presented strategy for collaborative applications for voice, video and messaging. Strategy included pricing, licensing, and offerings for software as a service (SaaS).

• Created a pricing and licensing model for a Cisco collaboration subscription offer requiring Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) certification. Offer enabled the sales team to meet their quota for 30% of a 6.8M subscriber market. Product Manager – Technical Services (TAC), 2011 – 2015 Managed the company’s participation in the Cisco Virtual Computing Environment (VCE), a joint venture between Cisco, VMWare, and EMC to produce virtualization infrastructure including network, computer, and storage equipment.

• Wrote business cases and product requirements documents for VCE features and solutions. Defined support structure and designed process methodology to offer best customer support.

• Drove complete and seamless support for customers working with Cisco, EMC, VMware, and VCE. Support revenues grew from $5M to $50M over 5 years. Product attached revenue was $1B+.

• Defined cooperative support for FlexPod product with VMware, NetApp, Red Hat (including both Linux and OpenStack), and Microsoft. Support revenue growth from $2M to $90M over 3 years. Product attached revenue was $1B+.

• Created a high value services offering which included big data and a centralized support model through a single call to Cisco Technical Advisory Center (TAC). Developed new process flows with partners including Cloudera, MapR, Hortonworks, Pivotal, and Actian and a business case to justify the implementation.

− Efforts resolved complex issues an average of 43% faster and created a new revenue stream for the services team. First year was partial and resulted in an additional $10M in revenue; year two brought in an additional $50M.

• Received formal recognition through the Cisco Achievement Program for the creation and implementation of the VCE partner program, September 2013.

• Recognized with TSPM Pinnacle Award, for delivering Solution Support December 2015. Product Manager – Remote Managed Services, 2008 – 2011 Drove implementation of the Cisco RMS Cloud (data center) remote management by writing requirements and working with development teams to create the offers.

• Created strategy for element management systems (EMS) domain controller to converge tools related to EMS throughout the professional services and technical services organizations.

− Drove TS TAC service offering with revenues projected at $90M over FY 2011 – FY 2013.

• Wrote product requirements, service descriptions, and marketing collateral for virtual desktop infrastructure, data center and foundation ITIL-based service delivery portfolios.

• Built business cases for the data center portfolio. Drove data center and foundation service offerings generating $18M in FY 2009 and $24M in FY 2010.

Security Solution Manager for Enterprise Identity Management, 2006 – 2008 Managed user identity solution for enterprise campus and branch architectures.

• Led efforts to implement flexible authentication (802.1X, MAC auth bypass and web authentication) across all Cisco Layer 2 access devices. This included all L2 switches, wireless APs, physical security devices and VPN. Cisco Network Admission Control and Cisco TrustSec were also part of the overall security solution. The involved all business lines and products across Cisco

(50+ groups).

• Drove equipment pull through of $386M via support of the flexible authentication features. Solution Marketing Manager for network management of voice, video, and data over IP, 1999 – 2006 Documented field and customer requirements into solution requirements documents. The requirements were then driven into products and solution test labs and ultimately delivered to customers. • Managed the production of demonstrations and trials used to drive management software into new accounts. Drove sales to $8M first year and $12M the next year for product and services.

(Element Management Systems) rapidly. Product brought in six new customers upon its initial release with revenues of $500K the first year followed by $2M and $4M in the following 2 years.
