I would greet and seat guests. I was in charge of proper takeout execution. I answered phones, took and entered orders, quickly and accurately bag orders, and then cash out guests. I was responsible for portioning product and keeping front areas stocked and clean. I also assisted with expediting dine in orders and communication between front of house and heart of house. I offered my help wherever it was needed, often running food, drinks, bussing tables, cleaning dishes, taking out trash, or stocking.
2016 – PRESENT
SERVICE MANAGER, Buffalo Wild Wings
I oversee a staff of 70-75 team members. I have direct responsibility for 40 servers and bartenders. I create the schedules for these team members, and monitor other departments schedules and ensure that each shift is adequately staffed in every position to ensure success.
I uphold company service standards and ensure that each team member is following company policies and delivering the best service that we can offer. I hold team members accountable for performance issues. I ensure that all marketing materials are up to date with current offers and promotions. I personally offer employee incentives for those that consistently provide the best service and receive great guest feedback. I create monthly contests to motivate and reward, not only my own department in these contests, but all departments of the store to encourage teamwork, and show the team members how much more effective our service can be when we work together.
I am in charge of monitoring labor. I resolve guest issues as well as team member issues that may come up during the shift. I am responsible for all cash handling, count cash drawers, the safe, and deposit money at the end of the shift. I order uniforms for all members of staff including other managers, office supplies, lighting, glassware, and marketing materials. I have created order guides so that in my absence the orders can be made effectively and will not exceed the budget allotted.
I take a personal interest in staff retention. I recognize that good employees are not easy to come by. I am responsible for the hiring and training of new service staff. I oversee the training and mentor team members who are working to become trainers in their position. I make sure to set up new team members for success and make sure that they are comfortable and proficient in working the position before they are on their own. I coach the behaviors of team members develop them. I publicly recognize and praise good behavior of team members and highlight great guest comments. I have trained five different shift managers as well as train three other managers to work my position at neighboring stores. I take an interest in the guests and take the time to get to know those that come often. I am always willing to hear how we might better serve them.
