Senior Android Developer

Manage a team of six developers

• Architected Marriott International customer facing Android app with 1 million plus downloads. This app generates millions in revenue each month and is widely regarded as the future of room booking.

• Implemented Foresee survey library so that Marriott International could get vital feedback regarding usability of the apps. This data is instrumental in creating the most compelling user experience for the Marriott International guest.

• Implemented the BazaarVoice library so that the app would include user reviews. This library not only facilitated the reading of reviews, but also allowed guest to add their own ratings and reviews for properties at which they had stayed.

• Developed feature flagging class which is currently used to remotely enable or disable app capabilities. This needed feature was added after Marriott learned that the sometimes unreliable API layer would negatively impact the app Play Store ratings, as the users would be unaware that failed calls were in fact server related.

• Added support for mobile key at different properties by integrating SDKs from industry leading venders such as Ving and Kaba. This highly requested enhancement now allows guest to skip the front desk and go directly to their room and unlock their door with their BLE enabled smartphone.

• Employed Deeplinking which now allows guest receive notifications that when clicked on

• take them directly into the relevant part of the app so that they can action on the notification immediately. Marriott has seen that this immediacy is leading to increased revenue from impulse consumers.

Thermofisher Scientific 2014 – 2015

Lead android developer

• Created mobile app to control the PackEye backpack mounted radiation detector. This sophisticated radiation detector is used extensively by government security agencies. The app connects to the device via serial Bluetooth 4.0 and allows for discrete control of the radiation detector. Local logs are stored in an encrypted format on the smartphone. The app can display spectrum data and other vital information to the operator.

• Acted as senior Android developer on the iConnect Mobile project. This internally targeted app is used to pull contact and location data from the SharePoint severs. This data is then populated to the detailed user info fragment. Users also have the option view all corporate locations on a map, with colored pins representing different business types.

• Created proof of concept application to test the viability of possible projects targeting the Android platform. This includes projects that tested communication techniques as well asapps that were designed to test compatibility with third party APIs.

• Technical adviser on RadHalo Android project. Worked with engineers to ensure that communication protocols were compatible with Android. Also worked with off shore team to make sure libraries did not negatively impact system performance.

• Created reusable library on internal Git repository, and detailed the usage in Confluence.
