● Ensure compliance with the provisions of the Meat Safety Act (Act no 40 of 2000) and the Regulations promulgated there under.

● Daily records and daily total condemnations must be maintained and the Schedule 8 forms must be completed monthly and submitted to the manager at the end of the month.
● Ensure that the Measles Register is completed and up to date.
● Conduct ante mortem and primary meat inspection accordingly as prescribed in the Regulations, which include emergency slaughter.
● Ensure cleanliness of the abattoir before, during and after slaughtering.
● Ensure that no carcass or meat in the abattoir is removed without having been marked in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations.
● Ensure that the stamp of approval is used and stored under my supervision and control at all times to prevent any unauthorised use.
● Ensure correct cold storage practices prescribed in the Regulations.
