Technical Specialist/Business Systems Technician

Hired as IT Intern in IS Infrastructure within relational database management, which included the Tools team. As a quality and productivity-driven team member, identified a need and created a basic script to compare 183+ Oracle databases for their inclusion among IS Security (IIQ/SailPoint), OEM and manual inventory databases. Script added to existing script that ran through 99+ Linux servers hosting Oracle Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS). Assisted Project Managers.

•Gathered metrics for service requests to create a Baseline using SIPOC and Visio cross-functional diagrams, from modeling through table creation/changes, for creating a data element (conducted analyses of technical and business requirements) and the DEV/OPS process improvement initiative. Presented these findings to the team.

•Waterfall to Agile and our department had both types of teams. Both project managers used Jira and conducted daily standups. The Agile PM provided two-week sprints as well as storyboards, retrospectives and backlogs. Assisted the scrum master when the PM was out of the office, while creating Jira tasks during those ceremonies. Participated in daily Kanbans.

•Collaborated and confirmed DDQs were up-to-date with IS Security (OpenPages), established status of (current/expired) engagements in order to send data off property to third-party vendors. Performed quality assurance functions to identify/investigate deviations from standards.

•Triaged SQL Server and Oracle service request queues daily, documented business rules, identifying possible deviations from those rules, EVMP, Remedy change controls, reversed engineered DDL from Erwin Data Modeler under the direction of Senior DBA. Reviewed and approved/rejected service requests on behalf of manager. Introduction of process reduced time waste using centralized researcher/troubleshooter.

•Installed Oracle clients onto Windows servers, minimized need for multiple DBAs to complete similar tasks, which increased quality control/productivity. Picked up DB2 requests and generated Copybooks.

•Maintained Oracle user access requests, daily. Created individual OUD and non-individual accounts, schemas, grants, roles, etc., using SQL-Developer v4.1.5, CN=Directory, Putty. Maintained a 98.6+ SLA rating. Maintained Tablespaces and Datafiles.

•Participated in two off-site Disaster Recovery Exercises using off-site URL, Bcinthecloud, with CPR dashboard updates and documentation. These activities helped prepare/create improvements for several areas within IS Infrastructure and Operations.

•Facilitated and prepared meeting materials from BMC Remedy for weekly Change Management/Critical Incident Management meeting, to 34-DBA team members, for collaboration/awareness purposes among six workgroups. •Created and maintained internal procedural documentation. Lead teams’ documentation repository and master Table of Contents (TOC) for annual reviews/updates, assigning JIRA tasks. Published TOC to Confluence. Maintained Policies/Standards in Quickr and OpenPages, for VP approvals and updated RDBMS APEX inventory.

•Researched/created team products inventory for original comparison into Configuration Management Database (CMDB), while retiring software bundles/packages. Ran SCCM, IBM License Metric Tool (ILMT), native commands, etc. for maintaining inventory.

•Championed a Plan and Schedule for upgrading Oracle clients to v12.2, using email to several internal application support contacts, identifying historical clients that were unable to upgrade. Used Excel to analyze email data into Pivot tables to investigate, monitor and schedule to help reduce technical debt.

oWorked with package builders that required the client upgrade, enterprise-wide, who required the manual processes to de-install Oracle 11g in order to push SCCM packages for both servers and workstations.

•Collected weekly metrics using SSMS for statistical backup reports (via TSM clients from Idera and RMAN) and Service Requests for SQL Server, Oracle and Teradata queues.
