Whilst on this two year course I did a lot of valuable units some of these were;
● Human lifespan development
● Working in health and social care
● Meeting individual needs
● Work experience in health and social care
● Principles of safe practice in health and social care
● Promoting public health
As well as classroom based work I went into a work placement once a week in various health and social care settings to meet with service users and expand my knowledge. On my placements I worked in settings such as residential care and nurseries. The placement which I found most rewarding was working within a high school setting, guiding and encouraging the children who found it hard to concentrate and had things on their mind.
Skills & Abilities
Although there are a lot of skills I have yet to develop, I have a lot of strengths which would make me an ideal candidate for working within this sector. I have exceptional time management skills, I know how to prioritise and manage more than one situation at once if needed. As well as having good punctuality and being able to meet deadlines which are asked of me. I have also developed very good communication skills whilst learning in a health and social care environment and find it easy to hold a conversation with people from all walks of life.
