Reported to the Assistant Auditor General; accountable for planning, executing and reporting investigations of significant allegations of fraud, misconduct, and waste.

Reviewed over 650 engagement files per year to ensure the achievement of investigation objectives, quality assurance, and staff development.

Independently identified over $8 million in loss of development charge revenue and formulated paradigm-shifting measures to mitigate the risk on a going-forward basis.

Toronto Hydro – Sr. Internal Auditor 06/2013-01/2016

Responsibilities:

Reported to the Director of Internal Audit; contributed to the development of the risk-based audit plan and led financial, operational, Bill 198, and regulatory compliance engagements as well as consulting services related to governance and control processes.

Contributions:

Identified an annual loss of revenue in the amount of approximately $1.8 million during a utility lease contract engagement.

Detected over $0.3 million in overpayments during a cost-plus construction contract review and strengthened the associated invoice validation process to mitigate the risk effectively.

Re-engineered the SOX compliance program, led a team of 2 SOX Auditors, decreased the number of key financial reporting controls by over 40%, detected an overstatement of approximately $5 million in fixed assets through testing, received higher reliance on ITGC testing from the external auditor, and trimmed the SOX program budget by $0.4 million.

ARAMARK Canada – Internal Audit Manager 06/2001-03/2006

Led the development of enterprise-wide risk assessment in collaboration with senior management and executed the audit plan with the assistance of 3 audit professionals, including consulting services such as accounting policy revision.
