ADW (Allcorp Dataware Housing) system is an ETL platform to process the compensation claims and premium for US policyholders irrespective of the residing country. This project is an initiative to replicate the mainframe EDW system to ETL technology, which is more scalable, manageable and cost-effective. The current mainframe process is broadly classified as the legacy site (extract process running on nine CPUs) and central site (data from the legacy is transformed and loaded into EDW-DB2 database). ADW systems are replicating the mainframe central site process. This effort was a step towards retiring the DB2 Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) in favor of the newly constructed Oracle based Allcorp Data Warehouse (ADW).

Description:

The Regulatory Reporting Department (RRD) is a maintenance project that deals with Worker’s Compensation claims and premium reporting. The project has the complete reporting life cycle, right from the data loaded into the source systems to report submission to the regulatory bodies. The processed reported data are very vital for rate recommendations. Regulatory Reporting Department (RRD) submits Workers Compensation (WC) Financial Calls for forty-seven US states to regulatory reporting bodies that analyze industry trends and prepare WC insurance rate recommendations. WC financial calls for thirty-eight states are submitted to a single regulatory body, the National Council on Compensation Insurance, Inc. (NCCI). RRD also submits financial calls to nine US states directly. These nine states are called “Independent States” and include California, Delaware, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The RRD Data Mart (RRD DM) is a worker’s compensation data mart that meet all reporting requirements for the project. The data from the source systems are extracted, transformed to the required format and loaded to the RRD data-mart using the ETL tool Abinitio and Reporting tool Cognos. Business users will be able to edit data in the RRD data-mart through the Java online application. The nightly summary process run on the RRD data-mart generates a financial report data which will be submitted to the regulatory body.
