CAREER SYNOPSIS

I am a committed, enthusiastic person and I adopt a great professionalism to work. I have the ability to both understand and carry out varying types of work given. I have worked on site, managed site teams, priced works and controlled costs. My organisational skills are excellent and I have a strong commercial and financial acumen.

Working within the construction industry since 1998, I progressed my career from leaving school and gaining an apprenticeship as a Plumber with Bryant Homes through to my last position as Commercial Manager with MVS Group. From January through to December 2018 I travelled and completed voluntary work in different countries including Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. I feel I have returned a more rounded person and ready for my next challenge.

After MVS Group went into Administration I made the decision to travel. Alongside this I carried out Voluntary work in Cambodia. I was coming back every few months and did freelance estimating during 2018 for small builders.

Overview:

MVS Group are predominately a Mechanical and Electrical Services company with a Refurbishment and Build Division.

Sofitel Hotel – Gatwick Airport

On this particular project MVS were given the brief to carry out all demolition, refurbishment, fit out and M&E works. was given the task to oversee the renovation of Sofitel Hotel at Gatwick Airport for all refurbishment works to bar areas, 20 bedrooms and restaurant’s. The project value was £950,000 and it was completed within 4 months. I acted as both Commercial Manger and Project Manager on the scheme.

Overview:

Shaylor Group are a regional construction with a national presence. Shaylors work expands into in Education, Housing, Retail, Commercial and Industrial sectors to name a few, turning over in excess of £80m pounds in 2015. I have been working in the Repair and Maintain division which amounts to approximately a third of the companies’ turnover.

My role at the company has been to estimate and oversee all tenders in the Repair and Maintain Division, present to Management at Tender Adjudication and hand over to the Operations Team when successful. I manage two estimators in the day to day duties and instruct the bid team. My typical tendered job values have been between £50,000 - £3,000,000 in educational, commercial, residential and industrial both refurbishment and new build.

Position Sales Estimator/Surveyor

Overview:

Turner Construction are a general building company and house developer and my role is Estimator/Quantity Surveyor. I have also project managed a number of projects alongside this role when required.

Alongside managing a small team of 2, I worked on a range of refurbishment, renovation and new build projects ranging in value from £10,000 - £600,000. Additionally, I worked on land development giving initial cost information for housing schemes ranging from 3 units up to 20 units with values ranging from £350,000 - £3,000,000.

My main duties:

Tendering for new works from private clients, architects, councils and organisations.

General management of the estimating team.

Producing schedules of works.

Producing full labour, material and sub-contract lists to hand to the production team.

Sending out Purchase Orders to Suppliers and Sub-Contractors.

Attending all site meetings as required.

Interim Valuations and Final Accounts, dealing with all variations.

Queens College, Birmingham – £250,000 refurbishment works of halls of residence. I carried out the duties of Estimating and Tendering, Project Management and Quantity Surveying and completed the project within an 8-week programme under budget.

Meyrick Road, West Bromwich – £300,000 housing association new build. This was a traditional house build with demolition and piled foundations. I carried out the sole role of Quantity Surveyor dealing with valuations, variations and final account.

Warren Drive, Solihull - £150,000 domestic extension. High specification double storey extension. I carried out the duties of tendering and quantity surveying.

Blackbird Way, Stoke on Trent – £80,000 disabled adaptation. I have worked on a number of similar projects to this on behalf of the Territorial Army where injured soldiers have returned. On each I carry out full estimating and Quantity Surveying duties.

Unit 29, New Design, Dudley - £135,000 Industrial Unit portal frame. I carried out Estimating and Tendering, Project Management and Quantity Surveying duties on this project. The project achieved a 30% profit margin.

Perton, Staffordshire - £500,000 new housing development. I have carried out Quantity Surveying duties on this joint venture where we built 3no bungalows.

Christchurch Primary School, Dudley Council - £280,000 school extension. I have carried out Quantity Surveying duties on this project, tendered for from Dudley Council. The project was brought in under budget.

Overview:

I had a diverse role working for 2 different businesses linked by an investor. My role was similar in both companies. I carried out full Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management and Estimating duties. My main achievement was securing a £45,000,000 project in Bahrain for Elcon International.

Lord Edward Developments specialise in new build of luxury bespoke homes.

Overview:

As one of the fund surveyors at Naismith’s my role was to review development proposals to ascertain project viability mainly from a construction point of view providing essential advice on cost procurement, programme and security to high street banks and mezzanine funders.

I was the youngest assistant site manager to be employed by Taylor Woodrow working on new build housing sites throughout the midlands. I worked alongside Site Managers assisting in all aspects of organising, ordering materials, snagging, working to programmes, working within budgets and managing health and safety. I worked on housing sites ranging from 40 units up to 140 units within a fast paced building environment.

I finished off a site on my own on which I had assisted on and also provided cover to Site Managers whilst on holidays.
