ACADEMIC PROJECT:

TITLE: “A study on the pharmacological management of mineral bone disease in chronic kidney disease patients in a tertiary care hospital” A retrospective study of 6months duration(2017). The project included 180 patients who were divided into two groups (Diabetes mellitus and Non-Diabetes) with 90 patients in each group. The study was performed under the guidance of Dr siva kumar, in the department of Nephrology, SVIMS, Tirupati. Patients who were on follow up for at least 3 years (2015- 2017) were considered, serum parameters such as Calcium, Phosphate, Vit-D and PTH were measured at every six months with a total of 6 visits when the patients are on Pharmacotherapy..

The Phosphate binders were effective in maintaining Serum Calcium, Phosphate and Calcium Phosphorous product in the expected normal levels in DM and Non-DM groups of CKD. Vit-D status and GFR was also maintained at the expected levels with the pharmacological management.
