Learning Experience during my Certification in Business Analysis from U of T Sept 2018- Dec 2018

During my certification of Business Analysis, I learned to elicit requirements from the stakeholders and to make well-organized documents, outlining requirements which are a BRD (Business Requirement Document). The purpose of making BRD to organize the thoughts of others (Stakeholders) into clear concise statements so that both Business and IT teams can understand the objectives to achieve certain Goal.

Being a BA, it becomes important to bridge the gap between Business and IT team through effective communication and I have learned various ways to make the teams understand through visual representations using process flow diagrams, context diagrams for As-is state and the Future State. I am quite familiar with SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and the different Methodologies I worked upon during my Assignments Such as Waterfall, Incremental, Prototype, and Agile. I am now good at writing user stories, making Use case Scenarios and Use Case Diagrams.

As everyone has its own respected position in the organization, it becomes essential to have a conversation in a professional manner. I found myself confident while talking to senior business analysts, Project managers of the renowned companies during one-on-one and group discussions in the class. And I never felt hesitant in asking questions of co-workers and even those with more seniority throughout my career.

For me, it is important not only to complete the task but to deliver it in thorough, quality and timely manner so that it adds value.

As I haven't been into Business Analysis role professionally though I had been doing the similar work in different roles, I am eager to learn in practical world to explore my knowledge areas and to improve my underlying competencies as a Business Analyst.
