Accountable to the Vice President of the Human Resources Department for restructuring and professionalizing the Health Management Programme within the airline’s social responsibility initiative.

Planned and managed the activities of 4 full time staff involved in training, research, and community based outreach and counselling.

Developed the company’s health policy and strategy in close contact with various departments and divisions in furthering awareness of chronic illnesses affecting the airline industry, including HIV/AIDS. Attracted the attention of other interested parties such as medical aid schemes and support groups including the South African National Cancer Association (SANCA) South African National Tuberculosis Association (SANTA) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) in developing a Health Calendar.

Addressed regional conferences attended by SAA Regional Heads from the SADC countries on the benefits of the enhanced Wellness Programme.

Research studies towards a Masters Degree in the Control of Infectious Diseases at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK.

Conducted research into the prevention of mother to child transmission, with a focus on the factors that influence breastfeeding women to disclose their HIV/AIDS status.

Interacted with women visiting the ante-natal clinic at Khayelitsha on a weekly basis for a period of 8 months, gaining an insight into the problems and challenges of disclosing one’s HIV/AIDS status to spouses and the community.

Research published in the South African Medical Journal in November 2001, Vol. 19.11. Poster presentation at the International HIV/AIDS Conference July 2000.

In March 2000 presented a Situational Analysis on Quality of STD Care at the Primary Health Care Settings in the Western Cape Province,at the Epidemiological Society of South Africa Conference in East London, South Africa.

1987 - 1993 Completed one year internship at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre, Tanzania.

Worked as a medical practitioner at the Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
