Labotec is a scientific instrument supply company that supplies laboratory equipment and analytical instruments to sub-Sahara Africa. Established in 1960 as one of the first laboratory supply companies in South Africa.

Chief Marketing Officer (November 2016 – Current)

Similar to GM but new title after merger with Batswadi Health Care General Manager – Sales & Marketing (April 2008 – November 2016) This was a senior executive position within the company and reported directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

As a key member of the Executive Management team, this was a strategic role in the overall management of the company. The primary day-to-day responsibility was for overseeing the company’s complete brand management strategy including media relations.

1. Lead all corporate branding and marketing objectives o Oversee the company’s complete brand management strategy including media relations and all methods of advertising

o Supervise the company’s market research, community relations and customer service.

o Run trade show exhibits and free educational sessions provided to the community.

o Handle all printed promotions like brochures and electronic promotions like websites.

o Provide support in the design and production of visual marketing tools. o Oversee the company website and constantly update information provided on the site to serve customers as well as staff. o Handle corporate communications to deliver a brand-consistent message.

One of the highlights as a PM was establishing the Esco – Labotec partnership in 2007 and successfully introducing the Esco BSC’s and Laminar Flow units into Southern Africa and shortly thereafter becoming the market leaders in the region.

Responsibilities:

o Define marketing strategies, planning, forecasting and product development.

o Coordinate marketing campaigns with sales activities. o Responsible for planning and project managing of marketing events

(exhibitions, roadshows, seminars and workshops) and evaluating their success.

o Drive revenue growth and profitability for the various brands. o Develop and manage market and sales strategies to ensure sales targets are achieved.

o Identify and develop new business opportunities. o Maintain inventory levels.

o Develop and implement special sales activities to reduce stock. o Provide feedback on product performance to management and suppliers.

o Provide the sales team with training and support to ensure they have the necessary technical expertise to successfully sell the product. o Provide and coordinate after sales support.

o Act as first point of reference for all product and especially application related enquiries.

o Establish and maintain current client and potential client relationships. o Identify, address and resolve client concerns.

o Manage and update ongoing as well as new projects. Internal Sales Executive (April 1997 – October 1998) In this position I was responsible to develop the Sub-Sahara African market through communication from within the office Responsibilities:

o Tend to all sales and service related enquiries from the Sub- Sahara African region.

o Introduce and promote complete portfolio of products to this region.

o Handle all administrative tasks – sending quotations, capture sales orders and ensure delivery take place on time. o Analysis of tenders and preparing bid documentation. TEACHER, Hoërskool Merensky - Tzaneen (January 1997 – April 1998) Teaching Biology to Grade 8, 9 & 11 pupils as well as Agricultural Science sciences to Grade 8, 9 & 12 pupils.
