DIRECTOR OF PRODUCT MANAGEMENT & QUALITY ASSURANCE 2017

Wondersign, Atlanta, GA

Hired to a startup company to build organizational capabilities in Agile/Scrum project management, product management, and QA to prepare for launch of next gen PHP, AngularJS, and Ionic-based platform providing an in-store, paperless catalog system to 1000+ furniture stores in the US.

Created a product development roadmap prioritizing major features/epics across releases and market segments using Aha!, Roadmunk, and Jira/Confluence.

Identified acceptance criteria for Alpha/MVP and then Beta using TestRail test case management tool, populated with 500+ test cases for repeatable test execution.

Sourced and managed a creative/UX team to apply new look/feel for front-end kiosk and back-end administrative platform.

Internap, Atlanta, GA

Hired to instill discipline and responsiveness in the siloed/isolated product development and product management process. Prioritized projects, managed product roadmaps, and created a formal process for communication with executive leadership. Led a Development and QA team comprised of 4 direct reports in Atlanta and 10 in Costa Rica and ~25 indirect reports.

Leadership

Developed strong relationships throughout the company, broke down silos, and increased cross-functional communication with the Product Engineering team. This led to improved project prioritization, increased efficiencies, and C-suite understanding of the product development process.

Maximized effectiveness of annual CapEx labor budget of $10M - $20M via new product development methodology that enabled the company to respond rapidly to a changing marketplace. Methodology also reduced operational overhead and maintained a nimble and flexible startup working culture.

Software

Launched and operationalized multiple new products and product enhancements for cloud, hosting, co-location, and network services lines of business.

Redeveloped flagship network route optimization solution MIRO & MIRO Controller that was sold as an external appliance in addition to adding scalability to meet increased network demand. Required ~30 thousand hours of Python, C, and PHP development over 2.5 years.

Introduced a cloud services infrastructure product set that rapidly grew to comprise 30% of company revenue via higher margin, community-supported, internationally-deployed, OpenStack-based platform with integrated back office systems and customer portal enabling virtual machines, bare metal servers, block storage, object storage, and load balancer options.

Replaced legacy Squid and Apache-based CDN product with customized NGINX & .NET platform that generated $40M+ in annual revenue at a reduced operating cost.

Created a managed DNS offering to provide for geo-location based failover, load balancing, and scaling services.

Developed HTML5-based web apps for sales teams to demonstrate complicated network-related products to potential customers.

Infrastructure/Operations

Ran multiple cost reduction programs to optimize space, power, and cooling for the data center and network services division.

QA

Established near-shore QA model, saving ~$750,000+ annually in QA labor, while increasing manual and automated test coverage, incorporating QA into Agile development sprints using Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence, Fisheye, and Crucible). This also increased discipline in the acceptance testing and post-deployment validation process.

Highbone Innovations, Atlanta, GA 2010 – 2011

Co-founded Highbone and provided executive leadership, account management, and project oversight for a startup software engineering professional services firm with interdisciplinary teams in the United States, Costa Rica, and Finland.

Analyzed ability of high profile social commerce software-as-a-service provider to launch new features consistently to already live clients.

Prototyped concept with start-up company to allow museum patrons to access interactive content, social media, and educational games via mobile devices.

Created custom graphical monitoring application for $100M core business of major medical claims processor beginning with analysis of operational and technical factors, continuing with user experience design, development, deployment, training, and implementation.

Hired as the first professional Project Management Leader in a technology-centric organization. Overarching goal was to implement business policies and procedures that increased revenue while delivering projects. Led the project delivery organization that delivered a $15M annual product portfolio and was comprised of a team of 130 professionals in the US, India, and Costa Rica.

Developed a resource cost model that enabled the company to identify profitable projects.

Recruited to a lead a portfolio of custom software development projects in 2004. Promoted to Director of Technology Implementation in 2007. Led a team of 75-100 employees and contractors to deliver product roadmaps, merger & acquisition technology assessments, and full lifecycle new product development for clients.
