FDCO Risk Lead, Vice President

Responsible for managing risk events and issues for FDCO Americas. Product coverage encompasses all FICC and related derivative products. Responsible for developing and maintaining an NFRR inventory for the division.

Chair separate monthly risk reviews covering incidents, KRIs, various performance metrics, and other initiatives for the Loans business. Took on similar risk lead role for Commodities, as well as the Global FX businesses after 3 months into the role.

Point person for all Audit related issues impacting FDCO Americas. Develop an Audit Readiness framework with a focus on QA testing. Chair monthly Audit forum with senior leadership team and wider risk community to discuss in-flight and upcoming audits.

Build trust and relationships across lines of business in order to increase self identified issues and guide teams toward control gap closure through strategic and tactical process enhancements. Maintain and report on the SIAI database of issues and actions.

RBC Capital Markets, New York, NY December 2015 – February 2018

Risk and Control, Associate Director

Established an Operational Risk and Control framework for the North American Capital Markets division, which was eventually rolled out to CM Europe, as well as the U.S. Wealth Management divisions.

Developed and maintain a key risk dashboard consisting of over 100 KRIs and risk quotient metrics covering all product classes supported by North America Operations. Continuously reviewed internal and external business solutions, including the first pilot RPA, with the aim of improving operational processes.

Developed an RCSA program for approximately 40 teams located in U.S. and Canada to provide transparency on risk areas and promote self-disclosure on process weaknesses and control gaps.

Created and operated a centrally managed assurance program to test control effectiveness and proactively manage risk. Determined optimal control standards and worked to continually evolve and strengthen controls across the organization.

Maintained a monthly forum with senior stakeholders to review open risks within the organization, emerging trends, upcoming areas for focus, and other related issues such as audits and regulatory exams.

Served as Head of Ops Risk Asia, managing a team of 4 to provide risk oversight for over 300 colleagues, spread across a dozen countries in Asia. Aided multiple businesses including but not limited to FICC, equities, and the energy markets.

Migration Manager

Took on an international assignment starting August 2009 to build and manage split site teams in Malaysia and Philippines with 40+ staff members. Provided operational support for global trading desks covering all derivative instruments.

Led migration projects by negotiating SLAs, and working with business partners to migrate new utilities. Successfully migrated various functions from London, Paris, Hong Kong, and New York on a 1:1 FTE ratio.

Global Derivative Operations, Associate

Drafted confirmations for fixed income derivative products. Took on a team lead role, creating templates to increase STP for documentation process. Familiar with ISDA definitions and standard ops practice for swaps, exotic options, FRAs, etc.

After two years I moved into an MIS capacity, working to devise metrics and risk reports for the CDS team. Decreased nostro breaks with strategic clients by as much as 80%.

Trained and developed new groups in London and Mumbai for migration purposes. Due to the success of the training and feedback of trainees I was offered an overseas assignment but respectfully declined in order to pursue an MBA.
