Job Description:

Gives direct nursing care with empathy and respect and identifies nursing needs of patients with primary focus on patients “Comfort”, safety and well-being.

Plans, gives and evaluates nursing care.

Admits patient based on room of choice, medical privileges, severity and communicability of the illness.

Performs such nursing activities such as bathing and oral hygiene and periodically checks patients for personal needs.

Assists patients in moving, maintaining proper alignment of patient’s body, utilizing body mechanics.

Takes vital signs and records on regular basis and or as ordered by physician.

Set up and carries out medical asepsis. This includes preparation of hypo tray medicine, cart etc.

Observes signs and symptoms and institutes remedial actions when appropriate and records in chart.

Reports observations to proper individuals. Refer unusual sign and symptoms of admitted patients to physician in charge or Resident Physician.

Observes and responds to patients emotional and spiritual needs in appropriate manner.

Supervises and evaluates works/ assignments of nursing aides/midwifes.

Reports on duty in proper uniform and on time as scheduled and inform immediate supervisor if when due to unavoidable circumstance she/he cannot report on duty.

Accomplishes nursing record/chart with utmost care having on mind that medical records are documents which can be used for legal purposes.

Prepares and administer medicine to patients based on doctor’s order. Observes and reports untoward reaction to ROD or Physician in Charge and administers immediate first aide as ordered by physician.

Inserts Intravenous fluid if fully trained.

Performs and administers cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as need arises to admitted patient.

Protects and safeguards patients record/ charts making sure that only authorize personnel has access to patients chart.

Refers patient to Physician in Charge or Resident Physician as need arises.

Maintains harmonious atmosphere in the wards and place of work by practicing good manners, friendly attitude, respect to patients/ watchers and fellow care givers.
