Senior Manager of Financial Operations (2015)

Selected by senior management to stabilize the financial operations function. Oversaw nine financial analysts who were responsible for the financial management of the New York and New Jersey Health Exchanges that provide health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Managed the relationships with ACA executives. Accounted for and administered approximately $100 million in monthly receipts that came into the exchanges.

Collaborated with the Implementation, Billing and Enrollment Teams to create and institute system processes that improved efficiency and reduced errors.

Successfully turned-around the under-productive Financial Operations Department to deliver cost savings of 20% by developing a daily dashboard that established accountability and performance metrics for each employee.

A leading provider of employee benefits administration systems.

Director, Accounting/Human Resources

Responsible for managing all financial, facility and HR functions for the 60 employee organization. Supervised the office manager who provided finance, facility and administrative support. Partnered with the company’s owners to develop and implement business strategies. Built and managed vendor relationships.

Completed the necessary due diligence to facilitate the profitable sale of the company to Morneau Shepell.

Evaluated the existing 401k plan, hired a new broker and negotiated a new service provider, which reduced administrative costs from 2.4% to zero. As a result, savings were passed along to employees.

Realized cost savings of $20k in the first year by assessing the market to identify more cost effective benefit and commercial insurance providers. Subsequently, evaluated plans annually to generate incremental savings.

Partnered with an HR consulting firm to audit SBC’s HR practices. Ultimately made necessary changes and created/administered HR policies and procedures that ensured compliance with federal and state regulations.

Improved operating efficiency and expense control by developing and instituting policies and procedures regarding finance and payroll.

Saved the company $26k annually by identifying a new real estate broker who negotiated lower rent. Continually generated additional cost savings by renegotiating vendor contracts or by changing providers.
