Universidad Rafael Urdaneta – Maracaibo, Venezuela (2014-2016)

Pursued chemical engineering studies in chemical engineering.

PROJECTS

Introduction to Chemical and Biological Process Analysis and Scaling I: Water collection and treatment system

Partnered with two other team members to design a water treatment filtration system in countries where water is scarce.

Solved material balances for each unit operation in the process.

Senior Design: Pilot Scale Hydrothermal Liquefaction Plant for the production of bio-crude

Partnered with 4 other team members to produce a proposal of cellulose-based bio-crude plant with a capacity of 6,000,000 tons/year.

Generated process flow diagram (PFD), piping and instrumentation diagram (P&ID) using Microsoft Office Visio.

Utilized MATLAB and/or Aspen Plus to design/size pump, condenser and HTL reactor.

Solved heat and/or material balance for each unit operation in the system.

Performed an economic analysis to evaluate the feasibility of the project.

Diffusion and Diffusive-Convective Mass Transfer: Dialysis COMSOL model

Gather real data of dialyzers in order to run a dialysis COMSOL model.

Used different concentrations of Urea to see how it flowed through a membrane.

Undergraduate Research:

Used quantum chemistry methods to calculate the atomic charges for the heterobycyclic molecule (G^A)

Employed Molecular Dynamics (MD) techniques to obtain atomic structures of Rosette Nanotubes (RNTs) in and water box, and analyzed hydrogen bond networks in order to understand how interactions within the tubes stabilize the structure.
