Synopsis : In this project Load frequency control system design for suppression of frequency deviation in an interconnected power system using Ant colony optimization technique based PID controller is presented. The power system proposed is a two area system.A modified cost function in the form of the integral of time multiplied absolute value of the error criterion(ITAE) is developed.The developed cost function is employed by ACO algorithm to tune both area biases and PID controller parameters.
