Key Accomplishments: On December 6, 2018 at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Iwakuni, Japan 2 Squadrons lost 6 Marines in an aerial accident. I was tasked by an MCAS Commanding Officer to organize junior consultants to respond to the base-wide emergency. Recognizing the challenge of organizing consultants, stakeholders, service members and resources on the installation, I initiated the framework of an action research model to Plan (inquiry, research) Action (compile and review qualitative/quantitative data), Analyze (trends) and draw Conclusions from the psychological literature, evidence-based practices, and practitioner best practices. Resulting in establishing 3 crisis response zones, coordinated efforts with 3 behavioral health teams, 6 squadron level command teams, and conducting debriefings for approximately 500+ Marines on installation. I facilitated an after action review to share interventions, best practices, and data in an effort to streamline processes, improve response time, and debrief personnel in an effort to reduce the effects of post-traumatic stress symptoms among service members. I was acknowledged by an installation Colonel as well as two Lieutenant Colonels for a job well done and for serving as an asset to Marines.
