I am an accountant by education, and a marketer by profession. My being an accountant did not limit me to stay in finance. I ambitiously endeavored to become a marketing person to complete my understanding of what business is all about, so to cater best internal and external customers. After all, marketing is about numbers.
As VP-Marketing in Alico Impex International, I was able to open 16 distributors nationwide, which played the big role in advertising/promotion and placement, making the products available in the local areas of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The most challenging task was to take care of the Triple A customers, satisfying their discriminating taste and go beyond the conventional way, which entailed tailor fitting, that which includes but not limited to taking care not only their professional necessities, but also of their personal and family needs.
As Marketing Manager of Philippine Bible Society, on my first year, we exceeded corporate target by 38%, which was first time ever for this company to enjoy. I had global marketing business travels dealing with our clients in all parts of the world, as my basic job was to make known our products to Oversees Filipino Workers (OFW) and partner with them in the meaningful distribution of the Bibles where Filipinos are present abroad. I was responsible for training a 30 member sales and marketing team, setting goals and objectives, establishing implementation plans in details, and ensuring to meet said plans, hence, meeting the bottom line objectives of the organization on a regular basis.
In both stints, INTEGRATED MARKETING COMMUNICATION was one of my major roles where I did a lot of verbal and written communications to relay corporate messages with care and accuracy to protect the organization’s image in support to its mission, vision and advocacies. My superiors were pleased at how I handled and how I enjoyed speaking before a large crowd using persuasive marketing presentation in order to embody the targeted audience to patronize our advocacies relative to meeting bottom line objectives.
