DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•In my job as Mechanical Fitter at Egger, I was responsible for maintaining mechanical machinery and working within all regulations such as health and safety. I have been responsible for projects being completed on time and to a high standard.

•I have been responsible for the plant maintenance on a shift pattern basis, being held responsible for all aspects such as fire safety and being able to act on problems on my own without help or assistance from my superiors. I have had to react to problems using my own initiative, and making clear decisions but also making sure my colleagues are safe at all times.

•I have also been responsible for installing new mechanical equipment and aligning machinery such as pumps and motor gearboxes. Working as part of a team is an every day occurrence and I have also been in charge of a team of Mechanical Technician in order to complete the job on a specific time frame. I have also worked to drawings and sometimes having to use my own initiative have given me good experience in installations of mechanical components.

•Skills I have other than mechanical fitting are welding and fabrication. During my apprenticeship I was given the chance to learn different types of welding such as tig welding, mig welding and stick welding.

•At Egger there is a large production press which has a 100m stainless steel belt. Occasionally the belt would crack due to high tension and only skilled individuals would tig weld the belt. I was trained on this area and I have experience in welding materials such as this. I can work in high temperatures and under a strict time-scale in order to continue production.
