Water & Wastewater Treatment Operations Internship Joplin, MO Liberty Utilities (Empire District) (May 2018 – Aug 2018)

Project Leader for 2018 Valve Replacement Program. Developed program to reduce annual water loss from leaks by 55%.

Created an updated digital database for the location and identification of 1,600 valves.

Preformed risk assessment for valve failure and developed preventative maintenance schedule for 350 valves by end of 2018.

Operated, maintained, and documented 2 water treatment locations producing 0.125 MGD and 0.281 MGD.

Operated, maintained, and documented “Class C” waste water treatment facility producing 23.14 dry tons/year of sludge and a flow rate of 21,300 GPD.

Designed extended aeration process for waste treatment facility that increased efficiency in oxygen content and contact time. Water Systems Internship Fort Smith, AR

American Resort Management (January 2015 – Aug 2016)

Saved approx. $25,000 per month in operations by maintaining water chemical balance and created new staff rotation system.

Operated 3 separate recreational water pump systems for different capacities (kgal): 220, 140, and 85.

Maintained and exceeded Arkansas State Health Department scores during bimonthly facility visits.

Daily operational maintenance on water pumps, filters, recreational fixtures, and wave-pool hydraulic engine system. ENGINEERING PROJECTS

Continuous Monitoring and Active Control (CMAC) of Stormwater Detention Systems (2018-Current)

Designing a CMAC stormwater detention pond as a closed-loop feedback system to use water sensors, PLCs, and online NWS data to actively control the outlet valve. Through active control of system, reduction of overflow flooding, pollutant leakage, and mosquito vector transmission is possible. Alternative design of system may lead to algal control being prioritized. PLC Autonomous Process Monitoring and Control for Hydroponics (2018)

Using Allen-Bradley PLC, created autonomous hydroponics process that uses light, temp., and conductivity sensors to turn on light mode, heat water, and deliver nutrient solutions through solenoid. Created HMI and Ladder Logic with factory process safety controls and safety checks, including a full stop manual button. Soybean Grain Drying and Storage Process (2018)

Designed and constructed custom single-fan soybean drying bin. Calculated desired moisture content and measured moisture content of soybeans at certain depths. Calculated time to completion and compared to actual drying time, showing only 8% error.

Sustainable Warehouse Design Project (2018)

Designed 200x100 ft warehouse storage facility in 3 iterations; Base, Green, and Sustainable. Calculated lighting and heating requirements for each system, and designed solar panels and batteries for the systems. Project required calculations of construction costs, operating costs, and projected long-term benefits of combining green systems to the sustainable design. Low-Cost Weather Station Design Project (2017)

Designed and installed low-cost weather station that measures temp., wind speed/direction, relative humidity, and rainfall over 24 hours.

Self-Sustaining Biological System (2017)

Created biological system to maintain a population of 200g of fish. Using various plants, bacteria, and soil filters to remove fish waste and maintain N, P, and Ammonia concentrations of water system. Operated small pump and aeration device. TECHINCAL SKILLS

AutoCAD ArcGIS MATLAB (Script edits & functions) Minitab (ANOVA) Solidworks & Inventor EPA SWMM JMP (Statistical analysis) Visio PLC Software Factory Talk Studio5000 Microsoft Office
