OBJECTIVE

A Civil Engineering position with professional growth opportunities EDUCATION

B.S., Civil Engineering, The Ohio State University, June 2012 CERTIFICATION

Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) - October 27, 2012 EMPLOYMENT

BasicSystems, Inc. Cambridge Ohio January 2019 to April 2019 Civil Engineer Assisted in design of natural gas compressor stations. Calculated size and reinforcing bar for various concrete piers, foundations, and pipe supports. Designy and modeled components in AutoCad software. Reviewed bids from subcontractors. Designed a new steel support structure for a cable tray on AutCad.

PREVIOUS EMPLOYMENT

Plaskolite, Inc., Columbus, Ohio July 2012 - December 2018 Quality Control Engineer

- Prepare solvent based coating used on extruded polymer sheets for specialized applications.

- Use gas chromatography to verify purity and composition of arriving chemicals.

- Conducted laboratory procedures to recreate large scale polymerization of Poly(methyl methacrylate) to determine empirical relationship among percentage of additives (co-monomers, initiators, etc.) and polymerization characteristics, material properties. Data generated resulted in a more predictable relationship between constituent chemicals and target properties.

- Verify material specifications during manufacturing process for Quality Control. Plaskolite, Inc., Columbus, Ohio (Summer 2010) Extrusion Cut-off Man Worked full-time on a plastic extrusion line. Assisted with the smooth, fast-paced operations of the extrusion line, including startups, shutdowns, scrap management and proper packaging of the final extruded sheet products for shipment. DEGREE HIGHLIGHTS

-- Senior Capstone Group Project: FOUNDATION DESIGN - Foundation for a school gymnasium built on soil known to have a significant swelling potential

Researched: expected loading for foundation, costs of methods of treating the soil, expansive soil mechanics, GIS data for site, morphology of site soils.

Options considered: Subgrade Irrigation (keeping soil continually hydrated at controlled level), Calcium treatment of soil (changes the soils electrochemical nature - preventing it from bonding with water), Perimeter apron, French Drain, and a Structural Slab using drilled shafts. Calcium oxide stabilization with Drilled shaft structural slab combination was found to be most feasible. Environmental, Health and Safety factors were considered for all options, and cost estimates were included.

-- Senior Project: REDUCING ARSENIC LEVELS IN DRINKING WATER - improve a water treatment plant process to meet EPA regulations for arsenic in drinking water (10 ppb). An Adsorption process using activated alumina was chosen. A pH of 6.9 to be maintained to provide adequate arsenic removal. Because 85% of arsenic existed as As(V), the activated alumina process would absorb this cation preferentially over As(III) which made up 15% of the contamination. Population projections were taken into account to estimate water demand,The resulting design flow rate was used to calculate design parameters such as tank dimensions, chemical dosages, as well as project economics. Process: Water is pulled from well for pre-oxidation by hypochlorite to change AS(III) tos AS(V). The water then enters the activated alumina process in media columns, and is then chlorinated. OTHER INFORMATION Proficient with Microsoft® Office software. 70 WPM typing speed. Good oral and written communication skills.
