I am writing in reply to the employment ad posted on-line seeking to fill the position of Customer Care Representative–Rutland, VT.
Having worked in a solo law firm for over seven years as Law Clerk/Office Manager, I know the importance of good communication between all employees in order to be a valued part of a successful team.
The law office handles primarily juvenile matters where client service is of utmost importance as the parties need to be confident of our ability to represent them. Many times, the children and/or parents need more than legal advice; they need an advocate to shepherd them through the process. Often, we come into our client’s life at a time of darkness; understanding and empathy on our part can ease their pain, frustration, and fear.
Critical thinking is an integral part of working with the law. Working in a small office, it’s imperative for me to take the initiative in solving problems and be proactive, since the lawyer is not always available when an issue comes to light. Communicating verbally and via electronic mail with clients, attorneys, court clerks, and other professionals has taught me the importance of modifying my style of communication based on my audience. Drafting pleadings and other legal documents accurately and in a timely manner is the essence of working in law. With experience in both the medical field and legal community I am well versed in and respectful of confidentiality policies.
My history learning to manage the law office and become a law clerk, with minimal formal training, speaks well to my ability to learn and understand while undertaking new endeavors.
