Objective:

Document Controllers, as the name suggests, are in charge of all controlled documents for a company or organization, making sure everyone is quite literally “on the same page” when they need to be. Document Controllers also create, design and maintain the architecture for document processes and procedures and enforce the proper chain of action and document identification.

All controlled documents must go through them to be edited, updated, and checked for accuracy. Once this process is complete, Document Controllers may approve the document and distribute it to the correct persons. They must also ensure proper labeling, numbering and accessibility to employees. When needed, the Document Controller archives and maintains a secure storage space for these documents.
