Advanced Data Analysis: The effect of unemployment on divorces in USA, 1997-2015. Winter 2019
Analyzed the causal relation between unemployment and divorce, using survey data of 14,221 couples and predicting unemployment via Bartik instrument constructed out of GDP of industry and state where the individual works. Used 2-way fixed effect method for both reduced and full instrumental variable (IV) models.
Results revealed that during recession with higher unemployment, the probability of divorce decreases which aligns with the “Cost of Divorce” theory.
Used sophisticated statistical tools to construct the model and to conduct robustness tests.
Spatial Data Analysis in ArcGIS: The impact of technologies on education, Iowa US. Fall 2018
Analyzed how access to technologies influences learning outcomes in reading and math in public schools, evidence from middle and high schools in 2017 in Iowa, US.
Used ArcGIS and STATA to check hypothesis that higher access to technologies (number of students per computer) correlates with better academic performance both in the arts and sciences.
