RESPONSIBILITIES (RN):
Assess patient’s physical condition (do physical examination) and record vital signs at the time of arrival, during patient’s rounds and prior to discharge.
Maintain accurate detailed reports and records.
Monitor, record and report symptoms and changes in patient’s condition at the ERD or ward during the observation or treatment period.
Prepare and administer IV, SQ or IM medications as ordered by the physician on the patient’s chart.
Perform IV catheter insertion for venoclysis or blood transfusion.
Insertion of hep-lock and administration of medication through hep-lock.
Perform urinary catheter, OGT or NGT insertion.
Perform blood extraction for laboratory examination of venous or arterial blood sample.
Modify patient plans as indicated by patient’s responses and conditions.
Consult and coordinate with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
Order, interpret and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient’s condition
Monitor other aspects of patient care including diet and physical activity.
Do patient education regarding home medications, give health teaching prior to patient’s discharge.
