Comerica 01/2016 – 11/2016

Senior Application Programmer, Hogan Systems

Supported the DDA, TDA and CIS systems to facilitate processes and workflows.

LEVEL 3 11/2012 - 09/2015

Senior Software Engineer, Revenue Accounting Systems

Actively supported the Finance and Billing team to facilitate processes and workflows.

Spearheaded the design, coding, and testing of multiple new COBOL development programs, including a COBOL data validation program; a COBOL program containing basic edits and a CSV file sent as an attachment via email; and a COBOL program to update DB2 tables. Modified and tested a COBOL program to insert rows into a DB2 table.

Created supporting PROCS, CNTL, PROSE, COPYLIB, and CNLTPARMS members necessary for implementation and governed by an Agile/Rally methodology. Identified JOBS, programs, and associated modules for retirement.

Effectively coded and tested scripts using HP Unified Functional Testing 11.5 software; tested automated finance applications. Applied maintenance to supporting data files and repositories as applicable.

Determined how to create and test Scripts to replicate a user’s action during execution of daily tasks. These test scripts would subsequently open windows in Oracle and populate fields systematically with the intent of flushing out errors.

Took over project testing following SME’s departure, successfully completing testing in a timely manner.

INFOMATICS 04/2007 - 04/2008; 02/2012 - 07/2012

Programmer Analyst (Contractor at Level3), Revenue Accounting Systems (02/2012 - 07/2012)

Designed, coded, and tested new development COBOL data validation program to utilize DB2 and process End-User comma delimited file. Confirmed field correctness regarding DB2 date formats, numeric values, and amount fields with/without decimal points; error-flagged records were written to email output file and transmitted to users at job completion. Dates were calculated as equivalent of prior month so programs DB2 cursor could retrieve data and written output file.

Designed, coded, and tested a new development program to conduct a two-file match to create no change, incremental rate change, decremental rate change, disconnect, and install records, resultantly written to a POST FILE and then loaded to a DB2 table.

Modified the supporting SYNC SORT steps that formatted the header and detail lines of a program that created a CSV file by adding a field to the programs DB2 CURSOR. Created multiple Excel spreadsheets containing revenue grand totals and subtotals and minute bucket fields, resulting from data being grouped by the addition of the new field.

Applied modifications to production DB2 COBOL programs by replacing a High-Speed Exchange Rate subroutine (SAP) with a High-Speed Rate subroutine(Oracle).

Cloned production PROCS by renaming them to a different SYSTEM ID. Created supporting PROCS, CNTL, PROSE, COPYLIB, and CNLTPARMS members necessary for implementation.

Played an active role in facilitating UAT testing.

Programmer Analyst (Contractor at Global Crossing), Billing, Credit Collection, Tax Systems (04/2007 - 04/2008)

Executed modifications to COBOL/DB2 programs by replacing DATACOM database calls with new DB2 tables, renaming old DATACOM fields to new DB2 fields, and modifying PROCS in order to accommodate DB2.

Designed, coded, tested, and created test plans, PROCS, DOCS, and JCL for new development COBOL Report & Conversion programs, using DB2 and flat files. Converted COBOL batch program’s I/O VSAM file processing to achieve compatibility in a CICS environment.

Proactively assisted in assessing and resolving production problems.

STRATEGIC STAFFING SOLUTIONS 08/2006 - 04/2007

Programmer Analyst (Contractor at BCBS of Michigan), NPI Project - Supporting BCN Systems

Applied modifications to COBOL/DB2 legacy programs, supporting BCBS’s National Provider Identification number conversion by adding logic to write a record for each level of IMS Provider segments sequentially retrieved and separated each field of each segment with tildes. These files would then be FTP to BCN further down in the systems process.

Coded COBOL/DB2 programs that report on BCN Provider number errors by inserting detected errors into a DB2 table and then submitting an Email, via an Email JCL step to the support team stating so.

Enhanced productivity by assisting team members with the creation of TEST JCL, testing of batch programs, and testing BMC-Checkpoint-Restart code.

Tested COBOL programs using Expediter’s Code Coverage option and subsequently reported test results in test grids.

Ensured current data records by updating corresponding documentation (PROSE), JCL, PROCS, and PARMS.

OTTERBASE TECHNICAL SERVICES 09/2004 - 10/2005

Programmer Analyst (Contractor at BCBS of Michigan), Coordination of Benefits System

Coded and tested legacy COBOL IMS batch programs by converting IMS database calls to their equivalent DB2 calls.

Assisted a colleague in touch-point testing (via Expediter) of the COMMON MODS modules, with the COBOL modules accessing IMS and new DB2 tables, and in coordinating the test data between the driver program and test DB2 tables.

Created a document for BCBS coordination of benefits group, containing examples of procedures used in setting up user TSO-ID prefixed DB2 test tables. The document consisted of: samples of JCL used to load and unload DB2 test tables, program screen prints of COBOL imbedded DB2 Cursor/UPDATE/DELETE calls, and screen prints of Expediter on-line debugging file allocation datasets.

GLOBAL CROSSING 09/2000 - 01/2002

Software Engineer, Billing System for Customer Invoices

Designed, coded, tested and implemented CICS programs using COBOL2, DB2, DB2 Stored Procedures, and DATACOM for a front-end billing system, maintaining DB2 tables for use by the billing systems’ cycle process.

Applied maintenance to IDEAL programs and corresponding screens for the front-end billing system. The IDEAL programs updated control values to production DATACOM databases for billing systems cycle process use.

Led testing for integrating DB2 from the TEST IDEAL region to the PRODUCTION IDEAL region.

Key participant in weekly rotation for on-call support of the billing system.

Previous Employment: Systems Developer, Merchandise Order Processing System for Purchase Orders KMART CORPORATION
