My duties were to teach and instruct students skills on how to do electrical construction work to improve their chances on seeking employment and how do employ themselves by doing various appliance repairs that is powered with electrical energy. I also after completion of their training asses them by doing practical examination on skills learned

After which feedback was given to the institute so that the necessary certification could be done to students whom successfully passed the training/skills development course.

Extra time was spent to ensure that all students fully understood the program and training supplied to them and tutor them if they needed extra help practical or theoretical wise.

My duties were to do new project installations as set out by drawings from project engineers. It included the wiring of socket outlets, lighting circuits as well as air-conditioning circuits. Building of new motor starters and installation of water pumps (submersible and mono).

On the maintenance part, my duties where to do fault finding on motor starters and switch gears, stove and geysers, socket outlets and lights and repairing thereof.

Installation, repairs and maintenance on bakery equipment. (proofers, mixers, ovens)

Also did certificate of compliance inspections and report any defects in order to be repaired to comply with SANS 10142 standards.

My duties were to supervise and manage new projects and to do new installations as per client/engineers drawings. Keeping record of progress and keep to bill of quantities and deadlines. The installations included lighting, socket outlet, air-conditioning, computer outlets, emergency outlets and lighting circuits.

Installation of emergency generators and cabling to installations.

Installations of new mini-substations and reticulation cabling of new housing extensions/suburbs.

Placing of transformers, making HV cable joints, and termination ends for connection to supplies. Phasing out ring circuit feeds and connections.

Building of short extensions of overhead lines. Installing drop out fuse holders, isolators and insulators.

My duties are to do daily inspections on plant equipment and do planned maintenance orders on those equipment,

Build new motor starters and repair existing motor starters. (DOL, Star/Delta and Soft starters). Allen Bradley, Moller, M&G,

Install new pumps, fans and motors.

Do fault finding and repair on our overhead gantry cranes their control gear, AC10 thyristor controls and variable speed drives. Cranes worked on Demag, Latch Hoist. Variable speed drives include ASI Rubicon, Danfos, Weg. Thyristor control is Saftronics

Inspect, install and repair conveyor belts, trip-wire and pull switches.

Inspect daily arc furnace transformers and weekly record tap changer readings for diverter maintenance purposes.

Other duties are to do monthly checks on the plant transformers, take oil samples, do de-electric strength test on oil and do all necessary tests on the safety devices such as over pressure, bucholtz, overcurrent, and low oil level (etc.) on these transformers. Changing of transformer diverter switches, maintenance of HV breakers and switch gear (ABB, Satshi, Actom, GEC), measuring their contact resistance, take operation readings on the breakers for record purposes.

Install new cables; make cable joints on low, medium and HV cables.

Further-more my duties are to carry out mandatory inspections and test on portable electrical equipment, testing of earth leakages (240V, 400V and 525V), start-up sirens and back –up battery banks.

Also have experience on PLC’s, the programming and fault finding in the system. Toshiba and Mitsubishi PLC’s. Cytec Scada TPDS ladder logic programming
