Chaucer Foods Inc., Forest Grove, OR 7/2017 to 2/2019

Chaucer is a 30+ year old global producer of freeze dried fruit and vegetables with plants in Europe and Asia. The plant in The Americas, located in Forest Grove, OR, has been up and running for 4 years.

HR Manager

HR Manager responsible for all facets of HR including employee relations, employee development, benefits, performance management, payroll, 401k program, recruitment, department KPI’s, and safety. Started in a young company without many HR processes and procedures. As a member of the senior management team, conducted a quick but thorough audit of processes and identified areas that needed improvement and prioritized the tasks.

Developed and implemented a performance management program with employee development tools, a merit pay process, and development templates.

Within 3 months created a new benefit program with more robust offerings with a cost savings to the company of more than 10%.

Adapted the 401k program to provide a company match to all participants and increased the employee participation by 40%.

Recruited 63% of the team at the factory, not including production workers, through replacement or addition of functions.

HR Business Partner

Strategic Business Partner and senior leader providing assistance to the Sr. Director of the manufacturing labs in the United States. Support all aspects of human resources for one-third of the company’s US population in four primary locations in 4 states. Teams had a large number of non-exempt lab technicians as well as exempt roles in engineering, production management, and other corporate leaders.

Created a bi-weekly Leadership Forum directed at managers, supervisors, and leads. Programs included a combination of leadership and management topics as well as reviews of HR and Safety programs.
