To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to express my strong interest in a summer position with your company. It will be my second year this coming September in a double degree program, in Math and Computer Science, at Wilfrid Laurier University. Frankly speaking, the investment in my preparation and training for the position within your company will be well worth it, as I will have several more summers to dedicate.
While I do not have direct work experience in my chosen field, I am quick, eager to learn, and possess many transferrable skills. Through the experiences gained from working as a life guard and swim instructor for the City of Mississauga and a private swim school, I know hard work and have learned the importance of excellent service and the value of the team. I also bring a positive attitude and the ability to take constructive feedback as a learning opportunity to build upon and grow from. Working for the city there was much more autonomy. After training, the expectation was simple - maintain the City of Mississauga guidelines and independently organize and spearhead my group instructional program. With the private swim school there was a greater emphasis on the team and being connected. There were mandatory group training sessions, which were weekly to begin and eventually moved to monthly after several months. The regular training resulted in comradery between employees which extended beyond the swim school as friendships developed.
I believe that my professional background and training thus far have set the foundation for my future career, as I am determined, flexible and can work just as well independently, or as part of a team. I look forward to making an impact at your company, and discussing this great opportunity. Thank you for your time and attention.
Sincerely,
Jordan Crooks
