Dear whomever it may concern,

My name is Meghan Levy, and I am interested in the receptionist position. I am 20 years old and am looking for a position like this to challenge me and help me gain more work experience. I’d like to take this time to tell you about myself and why I believe I am a good fit for this job.

I’ll keep this part brief but I’m going to start with some information about myself. I grew up in the Annapolis Valley, moved to the city in 2016 after I graduated high school. I started going to NSCC Waterfront (now Ivany) Campus for Library and Information Technology but had to defer my schooling for medical reasons. I have since had multiple surgeries and am much better, but feel I’d like to take some time and gain real world experience before going back to school. I take enjoyment out of organizing and coming up with solutions for organizational issues.

I have been told i have a professional yet friendly manner on the phone, so scheduling and confirming appointments, and relaying telephone calls and messages will not be an issue. After working retail I can receive and issue payments easily and efficiently, it’s also taught me good interpersonal skills. Working security has taught me a lot of different skill sets besides just keeping things safe, I can also greet and direct people in a simple and friendly way while staying professional. I can record information in point form while still being able to relay important information in order to maintain efficiency. I watch a lot of organizational videos and spend time coming up with new organizational systems for my files and items. I feel this would help me maintain work records and logs, file and sort mail, obtain and process information required to provide services, and other clerical duties. In my time at NSCC I learned a lot, I took courses in Microsoft programs so I am trained in Access, Excel, and Word; I also use GMail and Outlook so I am proficient in those as well. I am comfortable using a computer and know when to reach out for help.

While I haven’t worked in a clerical position before, I am a fast learner and know that asking questions is the best way to learn. I am a dedicated, hard working employee, and if given the chance, I will go above and beyond.

I look forward to hearing from you regarding an interview, I can be reached between 8am and 8pm everyday. I can provide you with references available upon request.

Thank you for taking the time to look over my resume and I hope to hear from you soon.

Meghan Levy
